Deepika was born on 5 january 1986, Copenhagen, Denmark. She is daughter of former badminton Chamoion Prakash Padukone and mother Ujjala Padukone.
In the school Deepika played badminton and reached the level of a State player, but she did not take her game to the national level as she had set her sight on the glamorous world of showbiz.
To fulfill her dreams Deepika quickly became a model endorsing leading brands like Liril sope, Limka, Close-Up toothpaste, Kingfisher and several other like international cosmetics giant Maybelline. For indian models and designers, she was award the title of Model of the Year, at the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards. After that she was chosen as one of the model for the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calender for 2006.
Deepika became a super actress in Bollywood in short period of time, by giving a back-to-back super hit films like "om Shanti Om', "Love Aaj Kal", Housefull and some more.
